Now this is a big teapot! What could it be used for?
This large pot is actually an Arabian coffee pot called a "Dallah." Dallahs are of a very particular shape and of varying size.
Coffee drinking is a ritual on the Arabian Peninsula and a Dallah is a show of weath, hosipitality and generosity.
A Dallah of this size in a Bedouin (nomad) community was most likely used to heat or keep warm a large amount of coffee next to a fire, then poured into smaller Dallahs that would then serve guests.
Each metalworker has a particular image that he uses on the Dallahs he creates. The image on this particular Dallah is of a grapevine.
I'm busy working on my blog posts. Watch this space!
